if you read my really cool and inspiring post from sunday morning, you knew what i was going to talk about. of course, not all things work out. I got to church and had forgotten that there was a guest speaker from the local college talking about college ministry and that it was a sunday school wide thingy... Of course, everyone else in my group knew it, because only 7 people from our group showed up. Anyone think there's a message there somewhere?
So, I didn't want to waste such a brilliant lesson on just 7 folks, so we listened to the boring presentation. I will wait for a larger audience to dazzle with my brilliant intellect and spiritual insights.
however, the day wasn't totally a waste. I went and saw IRON MAN. Took the whole family and it was a pretty good movie. some IRONY however, as Tony Stark upon returning from being held captive says, "I want a cheeseburger. An American Cheeseburger!". Next scence shows someone handing him a Burger King paper bag from which he produces a cheeseburger and commences eating. Irony being that Burger King is a United Kingdom owned company... so he still didn't get an American Cheeseburger. Oh well, I imagine Burger King paid enough $$$ to get that little spot in the movie, they'll call it whatever they need to call it. The IRON MAN CHEESEBURGER complete with action figure. Hey, that sounds pretty good.

Ah yes. Boring guest speakers. I know how that goes. Sorry, man.
Speaking of irony, I've got a story for you.
I was at church this past Sunday, in a fairly traditional service. I'm not really a person who prefers a certain "type" of worship service-- traditional, contemporary, emergent, etc. I really just enjoy worship done in excellence-- when we give God our best, regardless of its genre. So anyway, Sunday we were ROCKIN' the hymns and it was a really great experience. The Spirit of God was thick and heavy. And then something tragic happened. Our worship leader seated everyone... and guess what hymn we sang next.
Sing it with me...
I STAND amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene...
Yet we had just been SEATED. It was a total buzz-kill.
Blah.
I was about to post a comment about your beautiful morning time with GOd...and i get this story. that's great. So much for our plans! Nevertheless, time in the morning with my coffee and my book or journal is always time well spent. I get to do this most days...till it gets to hot!
Yes, Iron Man. Iron Man rocks. Robert D. Jr. was brilliant! The only downside was that my husband came home and immediately picked up electic guitar to play Iron Man...over and over and over and over........
p.s.-To kellyLawson22, that story is AWESOME!!
KJ - I must confess. I got my Ozzy cd out and blasted Iron Man throughout the neighborhood on the surround sound system, much to my families embarrassment. Okay, thats not totally true - the kid thought it was cool.... go ahead and comment on the other blog, it gives me affirmation and makes me feel like my life is validated. lol.
KELLY - OMG thats Hilariously predictable. like the old joke "Standing on the Promises" while seated in the pews. Gotta love those worship planning meetings. ; ~npp
